• Trying the drip tip

I have tried a few different models of electronic cigarette and have found the joye510 to meet my needs.  A recent addition to the electronic cigarette family is the drip tip.  So I had to try it to see how it worked.  I have found the drip tip to be very handy.   The vapor is good and since I don’t like a harsh throat hit, the drip tip along with the joye510 model goes very well with my preferences.   I have two manual batteries for the joye510 and one automatic  battery.  I wanted to try the automatic to see which was really better in my eyes.  I believe the drip tip works best with my automatic battery.  I like the fact that I can switch different flavors of ejuice as many times as i like from the drip tip.  When a cart is filled, usually your stuck with that flavor until its time to refill the cart.  Although I like to mix flavors and that is more obtainable with the carts.  My personal favorite is mixing coffee, vanilla and caramel together.  Ah just like my morning cup of coffee.   So great idea on the invention of the drip tip!  On a scale of 1 to 5 vapors, I give it 5 awesome vapors!

  • Electronic Cigarette Basics Brought to you by Vapor4U.com!

With the many models of the electronic cigarette available, Vapor4U realized a guide to each model could possibly come in handy to anyone looking for information on the e-cig.

The main concept of the electronic cigarette is to provide nicotine in a vapor form instead of smoke when inhaled.  To do this there are three main parts to the electronic cigarette.   We will start with the cartridge or “cart” as it is commonly called.  The cartridge is the butt end of the e-cigarette and if you look inside the cartridge you will usually see an absorbent like material that holds the nicotine liquid. The carts are disposable and when the nicotine liquid runs out they are replaced with a new cartridge. The next part of the electronic cigarette is the atomizer or “atty”.  The atomizer is the vaporizer.  The atomizer is the part that changes the liquid nicotine in the cartridge into its vapor form.  And last, but not least is the battery.  The battery is the long end of the electronic cigarette with a LED on the end and provides the power to run the atomizer.  The LED lights up when the user puffs or draws on the electronic cigarette. Placing the battery into the correct models charger charges the battery; the charger either plugs into the wall or has a USB end to charge through a computer.  There are also chargers available to charge the battery in the car.

Most models of the electronic cigarette offer two choices of inhaling the vapor, manual or automatic.  The automatic electronic cigarette has an automatic shut off when puffing on the electronic cigarette.  The manual shut off is a little button located on the battery of the electronic cigarette and enables the user to determine the amount of inhale that is preferred. The user presses the button while puffing and releases the button when finished.

The Joye510 is one of the most popular and widely known electronic cigarettes.  The starter kit usually includes one-two atomizers, a pack of 4-5 cartridges that are pre-filled with different strengths of nicotine and two batteries. A charger and user manual is included in the starter kit.  Usually with all starter kit models, the manual battery kit contains the USB charger and the automatic battery kit includes the wall charger.  The length of Joye510 including the atomizer and cartridge is 112 mm.  The diameter is 9.2mm. There are also a variety of colors that are available for this model.

The KR808D-1 starter kit is also very popular and usually contains the same equipment as the Joye510.  The only difference is the atomizer is built into the cartridge and therefore is called a “cartomizer”. This can come in handy in the fact that when the cartomizer runs out and is replaced, the atomizer built in is replaced too.  This provides a new start with no build up from the nicotine liquid. The length of the fully assembled KR808D-1 is 118mm and the diameter is 9.5mm.  The KR808D-1 is also available in a variety of colors and available in manual or automatic batteries.

The DSE801 is one of the longest of the electronic cigarettes.  With the same basic equipment as the models previously described, the DSE801 fully assembled has a length of 155mm and the diameter is 9.5mm. It is the atomizer that is longer in which makes the DSE801 about as long as a pen.  Many colors are available and also manual or automatic batteries.

The close relative to the DSE801 is the DSE901 electronic cigarette.  The DSE901 is a bit smaller than its cousin though.  The length of the DSE901 with “cart” included is 115mm and the diameter is 9.5mm.

Here is a breakdown of the lengths and measurements of most models:

There are many accessories to the electronic cigarettes.

Passthroughs are batteries with a USB cord attached to the battery.  The user attaches the atomizer to the passthrough and hooks the USB end to the computer and can use the electronic cigarette without depleting a battery charge. Passthroughs are model specific and cannot be interchanged with other models.

E-liquid is the nicotine liquid that can be added to an empty cartridge to extend the life of the cartridge. E-liquid is injected or dropped into the empty cartridge.  Use with caution and care when using e-liquid, as it is nicotine.  Many flavors are available.

Personal Chargers or PCC are containers that charge batteries and hold atomizers in one handy carrying case.  Each PCC is model specific and cannot be interchanged with other models.

Most models mentioned here are available at http://vapor4u.com/.

  • What is the electronic cigarettes future?

Well, I haven’t heard much from the FDA since the big hit they took back in February of this year when a federal judge ruled that the FDA couldn’t regulate the electronic cigarette as a drug delivery device.   I guess if the FDA had succeeded in their goal then my coffee cup could be considered a drug delivery device also.  I do still fear for the future of the electronic cigarette.  I know the FDA isn’t going to let a little ol’ federal court judge hinder their efforts.   The dragon might have gone into its cave, but its not asleep.  I can see the little flicker of a flame from the darkness.   What does the FDA have up its sleeve?  I shiver to think.

  • January 15, 2010 Federal Court Judge rules that FDA cannot block e-cig imports!

According to the Washington Post, it seems there was a ruling on January 15th of 2010 from a federal court judge that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cannot block the importation of  the controversial electronic cigarette! In the FDA’s haste they confiscated imports of the electronic cigarette from two major electronic cigarette companies in the U.S.  and those companies stood up and sued the FDA.  Brave, brave companies.  I commend them!

The judges ruling  determined  that electronic cigarettes are tobacco products and are not subject to such restrictions and granted a temporary injunction against the FDA.

Score for the electronic cigarette! Here is the link to the remaining story: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/14/AR2010011402995.html

  • Vapor4U.com: Find the Vapor

It looks like a cigarette; it tastes like a cigarette, but is it a cigarette?  What, no lighter needed?  No nasty smoke to deal with?  No dirty ashtrays needed to flick the ashes into?  Well then what is it?  It is the “electronic cigarette” or “e-cig” as they are often called.  What is this crazy device?  Something the tobacco companies are trying to keep a secret.  And seems like the FDA is trying to follow the tobacco companies path.  But why? Why try to hide what could be a useful device?  Why not evaluate, test and regulate it?  But instead they are trying to bury it in innuendo and false claims.  But for the life of me I can’t understand why?   The electronic cigarette is taking the United States by storm. So much so that even the FDA is having problems trying to curtail this new way of nicotine intake. A person can’t even call it smoking; the term for utilizing this handy dandy gadget is called “vaping”.   A person can inhale vapor with the help of a cigarette shaped battery, an atomizer and cartridge.  No inhaling smoke and no passing second hand smoke( which is my main interest in the product)to others around you. The FDA states that they do not know how safe it is, however I haven’t seen an unbiased and straightforward evaluation from the FDA yet.  If they are going to test, test it right.  Why the biased information?  What are they trying to accomplish?  What is their motivation?  Maybe some don’t want to see their profits go up in “vapor”?  There seems to be a powerful pull by the citizens of the US to bring this product into use.  However there is an apposing and equally powerful entity (yet unknown) trying to bring about the e-cigs downfall.  Which is more powerful? I guess we will find out.  However, in essence don’t just take my word for it, do some investigating yourself.

Despite the efforts of this “unknown” entity and their powers of persuasion towards the FDA, I found the electronic cigarette, and was very personally delighted by it. When I first tried the product, I went to the more expensive and well-known websites.  I found out very quickly, that even though the e-cig is a great product, just because a website has the bucks to advertise doesn’t mean they have the best product.  I found a supplier that enabled me to buy cheap and still have the quality e-cig I so desired.  So I created a website geared to pass on the savings to others.  This website is http://vapor4u.com.  The products are just as great, but without paying extra for fancy packaging, and expensive advertising, vapor4u.com was able to keep prices low and available to everyone.  Simple packaging and quality low priced products, what else could a person ask for?

  • Finding the electronic cigarette

I found something that I believe is one of the coolest things since sliced bread.  Its called the electronic cigarette.  I was intrigued with this product when I found it browsing the internet, and decided to do some investigating on the electronic cigarette including brands, types and any information available on the different aspects of this product. I was trying to figure out personally if this was something I wanted to buy.

Browsing the internet I found out some interesting things about the “e-cig”, as its also called.  The government really doesnt know what to do with it.  Although, it has not been approved by the FDA and the great state of Oregon has banned this nifty item until it does get approved.  From what I understand, people that have used it, like it. Even though it has not been tested in this country through our system of checks and balances. The FDA really doesn’t know where to catagorize it.  Its not a tobacco product, its not a smoking cessation product, however personally I believe it could be used as one if one chose to.

The one thing that struck me the most with the electronic cigarette is that it really is smokeless, the smoke that you see is really a vapor to give the smoker the impression and feel of smoke. And it works. The e-cig has several different nicotine strengths to go along with the same pattern as cigarettes.  Basically, 36mg all the way down to 0mg of nicotine can be purchased.  Also the flavors that a person can buy are numerous.  Thats one of the reasons the FDA is having fits.  Some geniuses have stated that due to the different flavors of the e-cig that are available, its targeting children, bubble-gum being one of them.  Why does it have to be only children that like bubble-gum?  I like bubble-gum and guess what I am an adult and would like that choice.  I have four children and none of them smoke. Which I am truly thankful for. I would like to have them grow up in a smoke-free environment, and I believe personally that the electronic cigarette can provide that choice for me and my family.  I have tried to quit numerous times, but stressors had me heading back to the nasty tobacco cigarette.  I am now enjoying the  electronic cigarette and I love it! Also, I don’t miss that nasty tobacco at all!

The FDA states they don’t know what effects this will have on a body, I want to give them a chance to test it, so, let them test me if they would like.  I will be a willing, participating test subject for the FDA if they will accept me as one. In my opinion smoking tobacco products doesnt just harm me, the smoke harms and invades my family.  The guilt of that weighs greatly on my mind and have gone so far as to isolate myself while smoking.  I have tried to quit on numerous occasions and so far am unable to.  Spending the money to buy tobacco is invading my finances and the e-cig is cheaper by my calculations. To a non-smoker it might seem easy, but to fellow smokers and ex-smokers you know what I mean.  Even as a smoker, when I see a smoker quit I congratulate them and hope they stay an ex-smoker.

To me the electronic cigarette is a great alternative, not just to me but to my family.  It can’t be any worse than what I am doing to myself with the tobacco cigarette and I know the electronic cigarette is benefiting my family because they dont have to share my addiction.  I ask the government to do testing on this product, I will volunteer for the testing, also, if they choose to, the FDA can place a warning on the e-cig stating that they have not been tested, just like there is a warning on tobacco products.  Just don’t take away what could potentially be a great product not just for people but for the environment. Imagine, no cigarette butts thrown everywhere, no smoke and no nasty ashtrays, just because you feel it might have risks. I have been told that Bar-B-Qing has risks for cancer, are we going to ban Bar-B-Qing (dont know if I spelled that right)?

Test it, give us the results and don’t be our mother. Americans are not stuiped and we don’t need government interventions, just knowledge and information to make the choices.  In my opinion, there are so many legal prescription drugs that I am amazed just from watching the commercials, the side-effects seem to outweigh the benefits, or we as americans find out that the FDA approved prescription medication that we took years ago caused our liver to fail, or multiple miscarriages now.   So, truthfully the FDA is not fullproof by any means, despite good intentions.

My main point is test the item, let us know what the risks are and let  the american citizens make the choice.  Don’t take away my choice.  That is why I am proud to be american.  I am free, I am safe and I have choices.

Now that my ranting and probably unheard voice to the FDA and the government is done I want to let you all know through this blog how the e-cig is effecting me and my life on a daily or weekly basis. I will be updating this blog as much as I possibly can on my experience with the electronic cigarette along with information on my online store. I invite any comments or questions.   I have found the e-cig to be enjoyable, however there are a couple of little quirks. I have to have a little different sucking action on the electronic cigarrette, (no pun intended) which was a little frustrating at first, and its heavier of course, so its harder to hold it like a traditional cigarette.  Funniest thing I have dealt with is, where do I set it down at?  How do I carry it around when Im not using it?  Because it is an electronic item, dont just let it bounce around in the bottom of a purse or back pocket, they can break.

I had a great time showing everyone at work the “NEW” way of smoking, and everyone was impressed. I even get to smoke in the office, everyone is jealous. I guess you can’t call it smoking though, I think vaporing is the new term. The taste of the regular tobacco filter tastes like a cigar to me.  It has a sweet taste like a cigar and everyone I showed said they saw the vapor that looked like smoked but couldnt smell a thing. I have read though, that the flavored ones give a slight hint of that flavor in the air.

To me this product is only a win, win situation.  I win, my family wins and I will be truly disappointed in the FDA and the United States governiment if they don’t give this product a chance.  If anyone is interested in this product and they want to research it ,the basic search terms are: E-Cig, electronic cigarette, e-cigarette.
Here is a great forum I found: E-cig Forum
